Radnor Lake, Nashville

Now that summer has arrived and everything has turned green I returned to Nashville to see the lakes and area again. And take some more pictures! I had looked on google satellite maps for lakes and decided that Lake Radnor was a place I wanted to see. We drove there in a very short time. It is really close to the interstate and the city. But when you are there you feel as if you are in the wilderness, miles from anywhere...except for the winding paved road.

The paved road continues to the lake but you must park about a quarter of a mile away and walk on the road or hike a trail because the road is closed to cars. It was a very hot and humid day. There were very many people out hiking and jogging and riding bikes. The lake itself is not very large and as you can see it really isn't appropriate for swimming or water sports. There were actually a lot of deer in the lake at the edge although none in this picture at this particular time.

A picturesque tree trunk.

We saw a lot of deer in this park.

Nice tall tree.

Have fun with the puzzle. If you don't have time change the cut to a few pieces and/or have it solve automatically.

This little guy has a long way to go.

The previous night we drove to Old Hickory Lake which is to the northeast of Nashville and not far at all. It has a beach for swimming and pavilions with picnic tables. This lake had a lot of fishermen. Most fishing from the shore but a few boats out on the lake. This area is close to the dam.

Next time maybe I will go swimming...

Odds and Ends

These pictures were taken with my phone.

Saturday night some friends and I went out to dinner to celebrate the end of the school year. We ate at a restaurant called the Elephant Bar. There were 5 of us. I took this picture of Kathy, Nancy, and David. One of them got away, Carolyn. Except for David we are all substitute teachers. David is an assistant in an elemetary class. He helps students who speak Spanish. He is the son of missionaries and was born in Costa Rica and lived in various countries in South America. Nancy was originally from Annapolis, Maryland, and Kathy is from Boston. How did we all end up in Oklahoma???

The weekend before that Nancy, Rick Berry and I went to the Hot Dog Park for hot dogs and music. We heard some very loud music. Some of it was good too! About a month earlier I had taken this picture with my phone in the back outdoor patio area. I think the music would have been better outside last weekend too.

This picture was taken after the battery died on my regular camera back in April when I was driving through Arkansas and stopped at this State Park, Petit Jean. I must stop there again and take better pictures. It is a very scenic park and will be even prettier in the summer when things are green.
